Laura Jackson Giron
I was captivated by winegrowing from the very beginning. As farmers, and as vintners, caring for the land has always been important to me.
Laura Jackson Giron is Jess Jackson’s second-oldest daughter and a co-owner of Jackson Family Wines. With her sister Jenny, Laura helped plant some of the family’s first vineyards nearly 40 years ago in Lake County, and she remains involved with the business to this day.
“I’ve always felt a strong connection to the land, as my parents did,” Laura says. She was Kendall-Jackson’s first employee, working out of the winery’s office in the Jackson family’s basement. In the early 1980s, there were only a handful of Kendall-Jackson employees, and as a result, Laura wore many hats. She was known as a “Jackson of all trades,” working in accounting, hospitality, marketing and sales. Laura traveled extensively across the United States to make initial presentations and promotions of the new and, at the time, little-known Kendall-Jackson wines.
Today, Laura owns and farms over 160 acres of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir and Chardonnay as part of the La Crema winery and its fantastically popular wines. Laura also continues to work as a La Crema spokesperson and ambassador for all of the family’s wineries. She and her husband, Rick Giron, who also works at Jackson Family Wines, make their home in Sonoma County.
